Selecting Rachael Ray for Your Cutlery Needs
In a commercialized civilization where just about every movie or television star is cashing in on his or her popularity by advertising endorsements, reality shows, books and blogs and eponymous products, Rachael Ray is no exception to the rule. Happily for the admirers of the television personality, her eponymous merchandise is associated with her main passion – cooking. So now you could enjoy the Rachael Ray cutlery collections which complement her cookware sets, such as the Furi Rachael Ray Gusto Grip 3 Piece Knife Set.
General Features
Rachael Ray’s cutlery is manufactured by Füritechnics, an Australian blade manufacturer which additionally recieves recommendations from other television chefs such as Nigella Lawson. Following Ray’s direction, the knives are lightweight and include slip-resistant handles (in Ray’s words, “super duper grippy”) and factory sharpened blades. And of course, with orange being her ideal color, nearly all the knives have orange handles cases, with the notable exception of the all-black steak knife set with case.
Addressing the technical matters, Füri blades are fabricated using a high-grade German stainless steel alloy blade attached to a polypropylene/synthetic rubber handle which has a patented reversed-cone shape to increase its “super duper grippyness”. A couple of important attributes in the grips of the knives are the germ-killing compound in the polypropylene, and the copper insert which could be shaved to return the knife’s balance in the wake of so many sharpening sessions.
Advantages
Well, as previously mentioned, the super grippy knife meets expectations, thanks to the grip’s reverse-wedge shape that makes for super-grip handling even when your hands are wet. After all, you don’t want to handle super sharp knives that might get quickly out of control as soon as they are moistened by liquid on your hands, which happens quite a bit as you are cooking. A great set is the Furi Rachael Ray Gusto Grip Knife Set.
A Rachael Ray knife set would make a very nice gift thanks to its striking packaging. What’s more, you may choose either the orange or the black case or the bamboo case. And the orange handles are a sight for sore eyes in a dull beige kitchen!
Also, it helps alot that Rachael Ray touches homemakers’ hearts with her TV programs. She has personally used and evaluated every knife while on TV and found them to be effective. That advertising, when presented with Ms. Ray’s personality, compels buyers to purchase the products. And that’s star power for you!
Disadvantages
As much as this super grippy knife set delivers cutting performance, there are some issues about the knives themselves. Firstly, the orange handles could be difficult to work with when your décor contains a contrasting color, or perhaps you just don’t want your kitchen tools to visually hop up and say hello to your guests. Unless you would like to work with these design eyesores on a daily basis, you ought to think about neutral-colored handles like black or silver.
There are also issues about the possibility of the E. coli bacteria due to the open seam that separates the rubber handle and the metal bolster. This, predictably, arises from the lack of ease in washing between such small spaces. Well, it could be the anti-microbial components in the plastic can diminish that danger, but the risk might be too high for your sense of security. A nice set to look into is the Furi Rachael Ray Gusto Grip 3 Piece Knife Set.
Generally speaking, a Rachael Ray knife set is perfect for beginning chefs developing their skills in their own kitchen. For people with profitable uses for knives, changing over to better engineered blades may be necessary.
What color should I paint the laundry room?
Okay, I've taken on the endeavor of painting the all white laundry room, but I can't decide what color to paint it. It's "L" shaped. Approximately 8x14 at it's widest points. There are TONS of cabinets, all white with chromed pulls and black granite counter tops. The back splash is white subway tile and the floor is white 12x12 tiles. The washer, dryer and sink are also white. It's lit with fluorescent lights. This is a VERY stark feel to it and makes me think of being in the hospital, or that I've possibly died and am in a God's laundry room up in heaven, lol. So, and ideas? I don't want to go really dark, the room has now windows, so the it helps to have everything light.
Here's some more details:
The room is lit with fluorescent lights, the house is brand new, less than a year old.
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think this would be the perfect opportunity for you to experiment with a faux finish. SW has a color called "pipe dream" (# 7171) in its SoftSuede collection. If you try that in your laudry room & it looks good, then maybe you could try the same technique in other areas of your home.
You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
