MMA Training - Want To Be A Professional MMA Fighter?
MMA training in MD and the world is becoming popular thanks to the UFC. Ask yourself this question when you are looking for a MMA school to train at. Do you see yourself training at a MMA school because a professional MMA fighter trains there or because you heard the school produces professional fighters? The majority of the time the answer is you would rather be a professional MMA fighter. The reason why that is not always the answer that everyone picks is because some people just want the MMA training experience to say that they got to train with a MMA superstar. They don’t actually have the desire to fight in the cage though. It’s okay if they don’t because everybody has their own reasons and their goals that they want to achieve. However this article is to help out aspiring fighters reach the professional level.
You will have no problem locating a MMA school in the United States. There are usually 2-4 in each city and each one has the same claim ‘train with us if you want to be a success MMA fighter one day’. So how will you be able to separate the phony schools from the serious schools? If you are crazy you could just go to each school and test them out for a month then make a decision. Too much time would be wasted doing that one. The best way is to do intensive research on the schools in your area and even schools that aren’t in your state. You may have to travel if your true goal is to be a professional mixed martial arts fighter. The best MMA fighting classes in Dallas is not necessarily better than the best in Baltimore.
Write down your expectations from training at the school. Make the school live up to your expectations. Ask the school if they produced any amateur or professional MMA fighters with a descent record? Do they train you in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and other forms of martial arts? Do they offer Boxing lesson? How clean is facility? How knowledgeable are the coaches? What are the facilities hours of operation? Do you want to train at a school with one UFC superstar and the rest of the students are his fans and followers not serious fighter? If being a professional MMA fighter is your goal you can't settle for anything but the best.
heavy bag or muay thai bag?
im training for mma,boxing,ufc.. should i get a normal heavy bag or a muay thai bag or both?
If you are training for mma and will use your hands, elbows, feet, and knees then abosolutely go with a Muay Thai bag. To train combos that flow and have power while changing levels (high and low) there is nothing better than a MT bag.
That and the fact that you can clinch and throw full power knees into it, then come off and blast with elbows and go back to the clinch. You can't do that with a training partner - even if they have on a bellypad and/or are using thai pads.
(You can work the clinch with a partner, focusing more on unbalancing, then going thru' the motions of striking)
Overall, the Muay Thai bag is more versatile so you get more bang for your buck.
