Everything You Ever Need To Know About Tracking Affiiate Link CTR's

One task that has plagued Affiliate Marketers for as long as many of us can remember is the task that involves simply being able to track the CTR for our affiliate links. Lucky for you, I am going to teach you an easy way to get the job done, that said… this is a complex task in its own right, therefore I recommend that you learn how to copy WordPress blogs using a script or plugin, as this will ensure that you can easily deploy affiliate sites at short notice.

So, why is it such a hard task to simply track clicks on affiliate links? The thing is that you are promoting other peoples content and products, which means that you can not install any kind of tracking on their pages. Now, without the ability to track clicks, then this can make our job much harder, especially when it comes time to look at ways to get more traffic clicking through to our offers.

To track who and how people are clicking on your affiliate links, the most simple way to do this is to create a page on your blog that automatically redirects through to the affiliate link. There are many plugins avaiable, both free adn premium, that will allow you to create a redirect page on a WordPress blog, so the idea of creating redirects should be quite straight forward.

So, why are we creating page redirects? When someone clicks on a link (which in this case will be your redirect page), you will then be able to track that page within your Google Analytics account, and accurately measure the number of people that are clicking on that link. You can also manually calculate your conversion metrics using this data, or if you are an advanced user, you can also set up goals and funnels within your Analytics account - a job that has otherwise been quite difficult and complex for Affiliate Marketers.

Are you trying to get more people clicking through from a specific page to another? You can easily set up funnels in Google Analytics, track the behavior of your visitors, then try a new method, to attract clicks. This may be button color, a link type, or anything else that may boost the click through rate for a link.

From here, all that we can do is track, measure and implement. If you want to know what your conversion rate is for click throughs, then you will simply need to divide the total number of unique visitors to a particular page by the number of people who click through. If this is below 5%, then you can be certain that there is room to improve on.

Before I finish however, I need to remind you that this is a complex job. It can take time to set up, which is why I recommend using other methods to copy WordPress blogs and installations, so that when it comes time to install a new site, you can be up and running again in absolutely no time at all.
