As a very fashionable and stylish symbol that permeates many cultures, the ying yang symbol is extremely popular. Often called the yin yang symbol, it is a source of understanding and inspiration for many individuals. When exploring Taoist cosmology, the yin yang symbol has come to represent Tao, or the belief that the polar opposites of existence are in fact one and the same, or interconnected intrinsically with each other. This idea confronts many opposing ideas in life, including darkness and light, and the masculine and feminine ideal.
An extremely popular form of symbolism, it is full of history and meaning. It represents entire philosophies and ways of thinking. It is a key idea in many religions and is an important concept in the martial arts and other Chinese customs. All over the world, the ying yang symbol helps us all to recognize the duality of life, and the duality in ourselves.
